WorldSBK Hungarian Round Cancelled, Estoril to Replace

The Hungarian WorldSBK round scheduled for later this year has been cancelled, and will be replaced by a race in Estoril.

The Hungarian round was scheduled to take place in Balaton Park on August 23-25, but its cancellation means that only the Portuguese round in Portimão will take place in August.

WorldSBK said the cancellation of the Hungarian round was due to the track in Balaton Park not being finished in time for the race.

“As the works on the Hungarian stadium are not completed by the scheduled date (August 23 – August 25), Balaton Park will no longer host the WorldSBK Championship,” WorldSBK said. “The Estoril Tour will be held a week before the season finale at the Jerez-Ángel Nieto Circuit, making for an exciting finale.”

Estoril returns to the WorldSBK calendar for the first time since 2022 in place of Balaton Park, with the race scheduled to take place from October 11-13. This makes it the penultimate round of the championship, which will now end in back-to-back races, with Jerez concluding the season on October 18-20.

After Portimão, the Estoril Tour will be the second Portuguese Tour of the year, and one of five Tours now held on the Iberian Peninsula.
