Angels rise, smash queens! Rivers Angels have made big profits after toppling NWFL Super Six leaders Edo Queens.

In an explosive NWFL Super Six clash against Edo Queens, former champion Rivers Angels proved they still have their wings!

The Angels pounced on high-flying Edo Queens, hammering them 2-1 and pocketing two million naira in the process on Monday afternoon.


The league title is not the only thing at stake in the final NWFL Super Six tournament of the season, a ticket to represent Nigeria in the CAF Women's Champions League is also up for grabs.

Just before the half-hour mark, Valentina Oroko's own goal doubled the Angel's lead, leaving Quins in free fall.

Emem Essien managed to pull one back for the Queens before half-time, but it proved to be too little, too late as the Angels held on in the second half.

After the final whistle, the Rivers Angels were all smiles as they revealed their huge cash windfall, thanks to the Rivers State Commissioner for Sports, H.E. Chris Green's bar.

“Two million more reasons to celebrate!” the Angels shouted on their X account, formerly Twitter, as they tallied their winnings.

The Queens, on the other hand, will have to go back to the drawing board, lick their wounds, and hope to rise again in their next match.

As for the Angels, they are flying high, with their pockets full and their eyes fixed on the NWFL Super Six crown!
