Matteo Moretto Transfer Column: Xavi Simons, Artem Dovbyk, Alexander Sorloth and Florian Wirtz

Mateo Moreto gives Football España exclusive information on the latest deals dominating the newspapers in Spain, as revealed in Fabrizio Romano's daily briefing.

Xavi Simons will not continue at Paris Saint-Germain next year. He will return from his loan, but Paris Saint-Germain will have to find a solution for him, either a transfer or a loan. It is true that Barcelona loves him very much, and they love his qualities, and Barcelona is considering moving for him only on loan.

For Xavi, the player, Barcelona is clearly his home, where he grew up and came through the La Masia system. I don't think Simons' future will affect what happens to Joao Felix in the summer. However, it is likely to impact any move for Athletic Club winger Neco Williams, or Simons' RB Leipzig teammate, Dani Olmo. It should be noted that so far there have been no concrete talks with Simons or PSG in this regard.

Real Madrid has been following Florian Wirtz's development for a long time. They have sent scouts to keep an eye on the 21-year-old, and have requested information about him as well… but nothing more than that so far. Real Madrid always follows the best young players and Florian is one of them. Despite reports that he is their top target for 2025, I wouldn't go any further than that now. From his point of view, Virtz is focused on Leverkusen, and Leverkusen is happy with him.

Recently, Villarreal president Fernando Roig announced that they had not received any offers for Alexander Sorloth, who has scored 19 goals in La Liga this season. He is one point ahead of Jude Bellingham, and one behind Girona's Artem Dovpik in the race for the top scorer's title, in his best season in the top five leagues.

LaLigaExtra on X:

Roig and Villarreal want to keep Alexander Sorloth. I think – unless a really high offer comes along this summer – it will stay put for another year.

As with Sorloth, Girona want to keep Artem Dovbek for next season because they want to have a great season next year, based on continuity, and they also want to get results in the Champions League, which means keeping the current squad together. Manager Michel Sanchez has said the same thing, and they will try to do just that, in their first season in Europe. To this day, I am not aware of any offers for him, and I do not have any news about the possibility of Dovbick leaving, especially to Napoli.

Matteo Moretto will be back with more transfer news in the coming days, providing exclusive information on the biggest stories in Spain and Italy.
