Lee Johnston Ruled Out of 2024 Isle of Man TT

Northern Irishman Lee Johnston has announced that he will not compete in the 2024 Isle of Man TT races due to injury.

Johnston suffered a broken leg during testing last February, and has since worn a cage on his injured leg.

This injury to Johnston follows life-threatening injuries sustained in last year's North West 200 that kept him out of racing until the end of 2023, including last year's TT.

Johnston was due to return to the Isle of Man grid this year with some new machinery, with Honda in Superbike and Superstock, and Triumph in Supersport.

Johnston was also forced to miss last week's North West 200, which he covered in a broadcast role for the BBC. At TT, Johnston will head to the commentary box with TT Radio.

“I'm absolutely devastated to be missing the TT for a second year,” Johnston said. “The last 12 months have undoubtedly been the toughest of my racing career, but the support from my team, family and fans has been amazing.

“I've worked with some amazing doctors and physios since the accident and have done my best to make my legs strong enough to race in the TT, but it's not happening. I go to the TT because I want to win, and these days, everything has to be perfect to get on the podium.” This includes physical fitness.

He added: “It is another strong blow for me and the team, but they were great, and I now have time to recover to 100% of my level.”
