Chelsea star Reece James to miss start of next season after Red Card against Brighton

Chelsea captain Reece James will miss the start of next Premier League season due to suspension.

Reece James was shown a straight red card in Chelsea's 2-1 win over Brighton on Wednesday night, after coming on as a second-half substitute.

It was a deserved sending off after he struck Blues captain Joao Pedro less than 20 minutes after coming on.

Premier League clubs, especially Manchester City, could face a problem if Chelsea sign Victor Osimhen to partner Cole Palmer in attack.

Referee Michael Salisbury was advised to check the pitchside monitor after the VAR intervention, and James was shown a straight red card.

This is his second sending off this season and he will now miss four matches.

Mauricio Pochettino was angry at the decision that deprived him of his star defender in the last match of the season, and the first three matches of next season.

James had just returned last week after nearly 4 months out of injury and will be disappointed by the dismissal.

Chelsea's win over Brighton keeps them on track to finish the season in the Europa League.

As usual, Tunde and Tosin argue about who is their favorite striker. Victor Osimhen or Erling Haaland?
