Xavi Hernandez reveals concerns over key Barcelona position

Xavi Hernandez revealed the main position in which Barcelona has failed this season.

The Blaugrana team is struggling to finish the season in second place in the round in which Real Madrid ends the campaign to defend the Spanish League title.

Xavi has since chosen to change his position on leaving the club this summer, with the former Spain international remaining at the helm in Catalonia.

However, as part of a rebuilding project ahead of the 2024/25 season, Xavi is expected to strengthen his squad with new signings.

The lack of a specialist midfielder has been highlighted by the manager with a huge gap in his squad following the exit of Sergio Busquets.

Busquets' calm and experience have been a loss, and Xavi believes the position is vital for Barcelona.

“We played many matches without a natural defensive pivot in midfield and that hurt our season,” Marca reported.

“When we chose Oriol (Romeu) or Andreas (Christensen) we competed better. But this is a coaching error. This lack of control in the midfield greatly affected us.

“The goal for next season is for each position to be covered by two players.”

Barcelona host Real Sociedad in La Liga tomorrow evening before heading into the final three matches of the season.
