Xavi demands Barcelona improvement as Real Madrid seal La Liga title

Barcelona has a lot of work to do to regain the Spanish League title from Real Madrid next season.

The Blaugrana's grip on the Spanish title finally ended this weekend, as their 4-2 defeat to Girona confirmed Real Madrid's title success.

The task ahead of Xavi Hernandez and his players now is to build for next season with the former Spain international agreeing to stay.

Barcelona and Girona will join Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League in 2024/25 and are expected to launch a renewed title charge.

However, despite the expectations regarding Barcelona for next season, Xavi admitted that the gap with Los Blancos is still large and that his team needs to make significant improvements.

“We had a title decider this weekend and we lost. It's a carbon copy of the Real Madrid game and the other Girona game. We have to change a lot to be able to compete next year,” he said, according to Marca.

Xavi insisted Barcelona will fight to try and overtake Girona in the race for second place, with the latter now holding a one-point advantage with four games left to play.
