WATCH: Real Valladolid celebrate promotion as coach leads chants for own resignationm, Ronaldo considers sale

The battle for promotion from the second division to La Liga is rarely a disappointment, and Real Valladolid were the first to do so this year, scoring twice in stoppage time through an own goal and a penalty kick in the 97th minute to gain promotion. The events since their 3-2 win over Villarreal have been completely ridiculous.

Over the past year, there has been talk that majority shareholder and Real Madrid icon Ronaldo Nazario was keen to sell his stake in the club, and agreement on terms for a deal worth between €30-50 million has emerged in recent weeks as well.

Ronaldo had confirmed after the match that he had three offers on the table, but during the celebrations, “Ya Dhahera” seemed less certain about his path, despite his dissatisfaction with his leadership.

Marca said: “Now I want to stay more than sell, and I will think about everything before making the decision.”

Meanwhile, coach Paolo Pizzolano, who was appointed by surprise in the latter stages of last season while the team was relegated, had a strange end to the season. La Busilla fans have also been frustrated with Pizzolano this season, and expressed this at the Jose Zorrilla Stadium and the training ground, including during the match in which they earned promotion.

Celebrating in front of thousands of fans on the balcony of Valladolid City Hall, Pizzolano took the microphone and ironically began chanting “Pizzolano, resign”, imitating his critics. It was met with mixed reactions from fans below.

What will happen with Pizzolano, Ronaldo or Valladolid's future is not yet clear, but they will be able to make those decisions from a more financially secure position. It's clear that Pizzolano has done a good job of getting Real Valladolid back, but it's clear that his relationship with a section of the fanbase is on the verge of collapse.
