Victor Osimhen and Stanley Nwabali helped Nigeria’s Super Eagles book a semifinal ticket against Angola at AFCOn 2023.

A video of Victor Osimhen presenting teammate Stanley Nwabali to supporters after the goalkeeper’s heroic display against Angola has surfaced on social media.

Pulse Sports Nigeria reports that Nwabali stole the show as Super Eagles defeated Angola 1-0 in the quarterfinal to secure a place in the semifinal of the AFCON 2023 on Friday nights.

The 27-year-old was a reliable bulwark for the Super Eagles against a spirited Angolan team in the last eight.

Nwabali was forced to rescue Nigeria on several occasions by the Palancas Negras before Moses Simon and Ademola Lookman combined to score the decisive winner in the second half.

 After the explosive and exhausting match, Osimhen was spotted, in a heartwarming video, hugging Nwabali before holding his hand and pointing to the stands to ensure he gets acclaimed after his masterclass performance.

Fans responded to Osimhen’s demand, with Nwabali, the Super Eagles’ revelation of the AFCON 2023, while the Chippa United man acknowledged the love and cheers.

Nwabali, who has become the undisputed number in the Super Eagles, made two stunning saves amongst other game-winning actions to help Nigeria overcome a hardworking and ambitious Angola side. 

The bromance between the goalkeeper and Osimhen was as heartwarming and classy, showing the unity and mutual respect in the team.

Osimhen’s leadership to recognise Nwabali’s efforts has been hailed by the supporters back home, led by famous Nigerian photojournalist and administrator, Adepoju Tobi, who shared the video on the social media platform, X.com.

‘’I love what @victorosimhen9 did here, like this is the MAN,” Tobi posted alongside the video of the bromance.

Nigeria will face next the winner of the quarterfinal clash between South Africa and Cape Verde, who go head-to-head on Saturday at the AFCON 2023.
