Barcelona arrived in Madrid to play El Clasico on Sunday at the Santiago Bernabéu. Realistically, a win is required in order to stay in touch with Real Madrid in the La Liga title race – Los Blancos currently lead by eight goals, but that deficit could be reduced to five with a win in the Spanish capital.
MD captured the moment Xavi Hernandez and his players received an enthusiastic greeting upon their arrival in Madrid, as around 200 Barcelona fans gathered near the team hotel. Many serenaded the head coach with chants of “Xavi will stay”, showing that they still support him despite the Champions League exit earlier this week.

Xavi has already announced that he will step down as Barcelona coach at the end of the season, although that has not stopped club bosses in their efforts to persuade him to stay. Those fans in attendance in Madrid also believe the 44-year-old should reverse his decision, although that seems unlikely at this stage.
