Valencia wrap up signing of goalkeeper amid speculation of Giorgi Mamardashvili exit

Valencia have signed a new goalkeeper for next season, with speculation growing that Giorgi Mamardashvili could leave after two excellent seasons at the Mestalla.

According to Relevo, Valencia have concluded a deal for Rayo Vallecano goalkeeper Stu Dimitrievski this summer, who is leaving as a free agent after six years at Vallecas. The 30-year-old will sign a two-year contract, despite lucrative offers from the Middle East.

It gives them security in the event of Mamardashvili's departure, with Newcastle United reportedly interested in the Georgian, willing to offer €25m plus an additional €5m in bonuses. However, Los Che are still holding on to €40 million.

Fabrizio Romano has suggested that Atletico Madrid are also looking for Mamardashvili, amid rumors that Jan Oblak could leave the club. Los Rojiblancos have denied any such thing, but Mamardashvili could be an option if the Slovenian leaves.

If these are the numbers Valencia are demanding for Mamardashvili, Atletico should be considered no strangers to his signature. Not only do Newcastle have more Saudi financial muscle, their big investment this summer is set to be number nine, although a big bid for Oblak could give them more ammunition.
