Nottingham Forest finished 17th on 32 points, six ahead of relegated 18th-placed Luton despite a four-point deduction that threatened to derail their season.

Aina's performance earned him a new contract

One of the reasons Nottingham have managed to survive against the odds is Nigerian full-back Ola Aina, who has played in 22 Premier League matches despite spending time away at the Africa Cup of Nations with the Super Eagles.

Aina provided one goal and one assist for Nottingham Forest, with the Nigeria international scoring in a crucial 2-0 win over Aston Villa that helped guide the Trickeyes to safety in the Premier League.

His performances over the course of the campaign resulted in a one-year extension to his current contract which will now expire in 2025.
