Sevilla agree terms with sixth manager in two years following Quique Sanchez Flores departure

Last weekend, Sevilla announced that Quique Sanchez Flores would leave the team after Sunday's match against Barcelona. The 59-year-old, signed in December following Diego Alonso's disastrous spell, will not have his contract renewed, and rapid moves have been taken to appoint their next coach.

According to a report by El Sevillista, Sevilla have reached an agreement in principle to appoint Las Palmas coach Francisco Javier Garcia Pimienta as their next manager. The former Barcelona coach will arrive at the Estadio Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan after the season ends this weekend, and is expected to sign a one-year contract (which can be extended for a further 12 months).

Garcia Pimienta informed Las Palmas management of his departure on Wednesday, and will say goodbye to the club's fans this weekend during the home match against Alaves.

García Pimienta should be a very exciting appointment for Sevilla. His Las Palmas side have certainly fallen off a cliff in recent months, but they remain one of the most impressive teams in La Liga this season. However, the mission in Andalusia would be much more difficult, and the risks greater.
