REVEALED | KTM RC16 for 2024 MotoGP shown as Red Bull GasGas Tech 3 launch with Acosta, Fernández

GasGas Factory Racing Tech 3 have become the latest team to reveal its bikes for the 2024 MotoGP World Championship season with riders Pedro Acosta and Augusto Fernandez, plus the return of Red Bull as its title backer.

A year after GasGas – part of the Pierer Mobility AG group that also includes KTM, Husqvarna and MV Agusta – made its debut in MotoGP for KTM’s Tech 3 Racing-run satellite team, the Spanish marque had the honour of revealing the KTM RC16 it and the factory team will race in 2024.

Much attention will be on the team this year as the home for the only rookie present on the 2024 MotoGP grid in Acosta.

The highly-rated Spaniard swept to his second World Championship title in just three seasons en route to a dominant 2023 Moto2 title win, triggering a bidding war for his services after KTM found itself with five riders contracted to four seats for 2024.

However, after Pol Espargaro was given the axe to make way for the newcomer, Acosta will line-up alongside Fernandez, the 2022 Moto2 World Champion getting a second season in MotoGP after a solid maiden campaign that peaked with a fourth place finish in the French MotoGP at Le Mans.

New for 2024 is the title backing from Red Bull, the Austrian beverage company’s familiar logo adorning the livery of the GasGas bikes.

It marks a return to Tech 3 for Red Bull after it sponsored the team in 2019 and 2020 when it claimed two wins courtesy of Miguel Oliveira. It comes after Red Bull – which already sponsors the KTM Factory Racing team – pulled its secondary association with Repsol Honda following the exit of Marc Marquez.

Despite running under the GasGas nomenclature, the team contributes to KTM’s points’ in the constructors’ championship on account of it using identical RC16s rather than its own machinery.
