Record signing at Real Sociedad asks to leave club

Omar Sadiq, Real Sociedad's record holder, has faced a difficult period at Donostia-San Sebastian. While many players thrive at the Reale Arena, just 1,363 minutes and three goals tell the story of his season.

The 27-year-old Nigerian striker arrived for €20m plus €5m in variables two summers ago from Almeria. He was brought in to replace Alexander Isak, but an anterior cruciate ligament injury ruled him out for most of his first season, and he has failed to get into rhythm in his second. .

According to Relevo, Sadiq has asked to leave the club this summer, and they say Getafe are his most likely candidate, with a loan deal in the offing. Getafe is keen to strengthen its attacking line, and a loan suits both parties.

Getafe lost Enes Unal this season to Bournemouth, while Borja Mayoral came out of surgery, and Jaime Mata is another year older. Real Madrid will also have to rebuild their front line as well, if Sadiq leaves. Andre Silva will return to RB Leipzig after his loan, and Carlos Fernandez remains injury-prone, leaving them without a natural number nine.
