Real Madrid shun offers for defender as first-team role beckons next season

Real Madrid defender Rafa Marin has enjoyed an impressive debut season in La Liga with Alaves, helping guide Luis Garcia Plaza's side to safety with plenty of red flags. The 21-year-old has been one of Castilla's standout players in recent years, but has shown little nerves in adapting to the top level.

Marin has been backed to return to Real Madrid this summer, and Relevo says there is interest in him from other clubs, but no decision has been made on his future. Marin will make a decision with the club on whether he will arrive as a rotational option in the first team, or look for a new loan. They say his future will depend on David Alaba's recovery, the possible arrival of Lenny Euro, and the potential exit of Nacho Fernandez.

However, Cadena Ser claims (via Diario AS) that the decision has already been made, and that he will be part of the squad at the Santiago Bernabéu next season. Other teams inquired about him this season, but were told that he would remain with the club.

Nacho's departure looks imminent barring a sudden change of heart, while Euros' chances of joining are also diminishing. Marine will be behind David Alaba, Antonio Rudiger and Eder Militao next season, and given their injury issues this season, it's no surprise they would want to keep Marine.
