Real Madrid forced to pay Chelsea €6m as part of Eden Hazard agreement – despite recent retirement

Eden Hazard's disastrous four-year spell at Real Madrid still haunts many at the club, and despite retiring from professional football at the end of last season, he still has an impact on Los Blancos.

This is because Real Madrid had to pay €6 million to Chelsea as part of the agreement concluded between the clubs in 2019. The Telegraph (via Diario AS) reported that although Hazard canceled his contract and has since left, the terms of his transfer still apply.

Real Madrid had to pay the amount because it reached the Champions League final, which they did last week after beating Bayern Munich in a wonderful way. It's not ideal not to pay other clubs for no return, but it's not so bad when it's because of their success.

However, that €6 million may not be at Real Madrid's disposal before the summer transfer window, which is expected to be a busy one for Florentino Pérez, Carlo Ancelotti and co.
