Real Betis star Isco gets timeline for return after surgery on calf injury

Real Betis star Isco Alarcón has undergone surgery on a broken calf and will face a race to return come the start of next season. Of course the most unfortunate part is the fact that the 32-year-old will miss the European Championship with Spain, having reportedly forced his way into the team for only the second major tournament of his career.

According to Marca, Isco underwent successful surgery on a broken tibia in Sevilla and is expected to be out of action for approximately two to three months. He will undoubtedly miss pre-season, but could return for the start of La Liga depending on his recovery. It seems that the start of the new season will be in mid-August.

This will not affect Betis this season, which has already been confirmed this season in seventh place, i.e. the Football Conference League this season. Everyone agrees that he has been Betis' player of the season and Manuel Pellegrini will be hoping he can get more from him next season.
