Real Betis set sights on Paris Saint-Germain star as efforts made to rectify problem position

One area that Real Betis will definitely need to address this summer is left-back. Manuel Pellegrini's current options are Juan Miranda and Abner Vinicius, but both are expected to leave at the end of the season – Miranda is out of contract, and Abner is likely to join Lyon.

Alternatives are being considered and, according to MD, they are considering a summer move for Juan Bernat. The former Valencia star has had a difficult few years, and that continued this season during a disappointing loan spell at Portuguese giants Benfica.

Bernat sees his contract with Paris Saint-Germain set to expire in 2025, and Betis could potentially reach a deal at a reduced price, if they deem it acceptable.

Bernat is not the only left-back option played by Real Betis. The club's sports department also studied the transfers of Lyon's Nicola Tagliafico and Brighton's Valentin Barco, as well as Las Palmas' Sergi Cardona.
