Podcast: Indy 500 qualifying takeaways with poleman McLaughlin

Even the Abu Dhabi Auto Racing League

This week's The Race IndyCar Podcast features an interview with the author of the fastest four-lap race ever in Indianapolis 500 history, Scott McLaughlin.

The Team Penske driver talks about how the line change helped launch the pace and his journey from tin top to single-seater star in just over four years — and gives some insight into his race car in the 108th Indy 500 on Sunday.

Elsewhere, co-host JR Hildebrand has been around the circuit over the past week, outlining some of the main reasons for Chevrolet's apparent gains over Honda and how the suspension part has caused a lot of intrigue.

Also analyzed are Kyle Larson's incredible run to fifth place in his Indy 500 debut and Marcus Ericsson's struggle to get to the race – where he was under threat from home after his accident on Thursday as part of the “Bump Day” drama.

We'll be back before race day with our annual vintage episode featuring an interview with the Indy 500-winning driver for a special anniversary.
