The Nigerian secured a move to Belgian club Union Saint-Gilloise, where he caught the attention of Bayer Leverkusen's new coach, Xabi Alonso, after an intense battle between the two teams in the Europa League.

Alonso was so impressed by Boniface's performance that he wasted no time in securing the services of the 23-year-old, paying €20 million to bring him to BayArena.

The Super Eagle justified the price, producing a series of impressive performances that helped Leverkusen win their first Bundesliga title.

Despite missing three months of the season due to injury, Boniface still managed to find the back of the net 11 times and provide 8 assists in just 18 Bundesliga appearances.

His combination of pace, power, playmaking skill and precise finishing made him a nightmare for opposition defences, and his contribution was crucial to Leverkusen's success.

“I have no doubt in myself,” Boniface added. “I'm 100% focused because this is what I wanted to do, play football.”

The Nigerian's crowning achievement came earlier this season when he made his debut with the Super Eagles, the national team he had always dreamed of representing.

As his star continues to rise, it is clear that the military boy from Akure has truly arrived on the world stage.

As Bayer Leverkusen celebrates their historic Bundesliga victory, Boniface's story serves as a shining example of what can be achieved through unwavering self-belief and the relentless pursuit of one's dreams. The future looks bright for this young Nigerian sensation.
