New candidate seeking Newey’s signature – report

A new candidate has joined the race to sign Adrian Newey when he leaves Red Bull early next year.

The world champions confirmed ahead of the Miami Grand Prix that the company's technical director will step down from his direct involvement with the Formula 1 team ahead of his eventual departure in early 2025.

Much speculation has emerged about his next career move with rumors suggesting that he has already received offers from Ferrari and Aston Martin.

Cars and sports Reports now suggest that Mercedes has also approached Newey cautiously.

The Silver Arrows are facing a difficult start to the season as they continue to struggle under the current set of technical regulations introduced in 2022.

Newey could play a key role when it comes to building the 2026 car as he could join a new team straight after his exit from Red Bull next year.

The 2026 Formula 1 season will begin under another regulation change, and with Newey known for his successful innovations amid the rule change, the Briton could prove pivotal to the team's competitive situation.

However, the report shows that Ferrari are still the favorites to sign Newey next year.

Newey made it clear last year, long before rumblings of a Red Bull exit, that he regretted not working for Ferrari and Lewis Hamilton during his career – two boxes he could tick in 2025 if he joined the Italian team.

Talks between Newey and Ferrari are said to be at an advanced stage, but it appears that Newey has not yet made a final decision as he takes time to consider whether he wants to continue in Formula 1 at all.
