Manchester United goalkeeper Onana sets unwanted Premier League record after conceding 200 shots

Andre Onana has conceded 58 goals this season in the Premier League in his first season with Manchester United.

Cameroonian star Andre Onana has made history at Manchester United after becoming the first goalkeeper in the club's illustrious history to face 200 shots in a single season in the English Premier League.

Pulse Sports Nigeria reports that Onana and United were forced to dig deep in their final match of the season at Old Trafford on Wednesday night.

Onana set the Premier League record with Manchester United

The Cameroonian goalkeeper, who joined the Red Devils from Inter Milan last summer, has endured a mixed debut season at Old Trafford.

Despite United's 3-2 win over Newcastle United in their final home game of the season, Onana was unable to keep a clean sheet, conceding the club's 58th goal of the season.

The 27-year-old made five saves in the match, but his last clean sheet came on March 9, in a 2-0 win over Everton.

Onana's first season at United was full of ups and downs, with the goalkeeper facing an astonishing 200 shots – the most of any United goalkeeper in a single Premier League season.

The former Ajax player will no doubt be looking to bounce back next season, as Erik ten Hag's side aim to mount a stronger title challenge.

With Onana's shot-stopping abilities under the microscope, the pressure will be on the goalkeeper to shore up United's leaky defense after a horror 2023/24 season.
