Liverpool enter race to sign Real Madrid’s top defensive target

Real Madrid have plans to sign a new centre-back in the next 12 to 15 months, and their first target is Lille's Lenny Euro. The 18-year-old is considered one of the best young defenders in Europe and has been likened to former Los Blancos favorite Raphael Varane.

However, a deal looks unlikely this summer due to Lille's asking price, which is believed to be in the region of €60m. Given that Euros only has one year left on his contract, Real Madrid are unwilling to pay such a high sum, so they defer until 2025.

The problem with this is that more clubs are registering their interest in the Euro. Paris Saint-Germain are already keen, and now Le Parisien is reporting that Liverpool have entered the race in recent weeks.

If Real Madrid are dragged into a battle for Euros' signature, they will be confident of securing his services, given the pull they have. However, Florentino Pérez will not want to pay big, so it is a difficult situation to maneuver.
