Las Palmas preparing for departure of highly-rated manager

Las Palmas have had a good first season in La Liga, despite not winning any of their last 13 matches. Their campaign ends on Sunday against Alaves, and it may be the last match for coach Francisco Javier Garcia Pimienta.

According to Diario AS, the former Barcelona Athletic manager is seen more outside the team than at the Gran Canaria-based side. In recent days, he has been linked with the managerial position at Sevilla, who announced last weekend that Quique Sanchez Flores would step down after the final round of matches this weekend.

The report suggests that Las Palmas are already preparing a replacement for Garcia Pimienta, namely current Real Oviedo coach Luis Carrón, who could leave for free in the summer if promotion via the Segunda Division qualifiers is not achieved.

There is no doubt that Garcia Pimienta will be a hot player in the summer if the decision is made to leave Las Palmas. Sevilla are certainly a likely destination, especially since they failed to beat main candidate Jagoba Arrasate.
