“I’m not saying it’s s***, but…” Real Sociedad star keen to avoid Europa Conference League next season

With seven matches remaining this season, Real Sociedad currently sits in sixth place in the La Liga table. However, they are only three points ahead of Valencia, and that is in the midst of a very difficult round, which includes matches against Real Madrid, Barcelona and Atletico Madrid.

With Athletic Bilbao winning the Copa del Rey earlier this month, an additional European place will almost certainly go to La Liga. Sixth place will earn the Europa League, while seventh will qualify for the Europa Conference League.

Real Madrid goalkeeper Alex Remiro is desperate to ensure his team finishes in the top six, he told SER Deportivo Gipuzkoa (via MD).

“You have to value qualifying for Europe a lot, because football has become more complex. It would be amazing. But honestly, with the team we have and the trajectory we have, if we don't get to the Europa League and get to the Conference League, I don't think that's enough. But let me say I get it, I'm not saying it's bad, but it wouldn't seem like much to me.

Real Sociedad have played in the Champions League and Europa League in the last two seasons, and qualifying for the third tier of European football is a very real possibility after an underwhelming season so far. Likewise, they may not qualify for Europe at all, with Real Betis just five points behind.
