“I’ll return” – Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta reveals desire to manage in La Liga

Mikel Arteta is undoubtedly one of the best managers in the world at this very moment, and that fact will remain unchanged even if he is unable to lead Arsenal to the Premier League for the first time in 20 years next weekend.

His 4.5-year spell is the longest of any Arsenal manager since Arsene Wenger, although he is unlikely to stay as long as the Frenchman. When he leaves, there is a good chance he will return to Spain to continue his managerial career, as Arteta himself revealed (via Sport).

“I've always thought that one day I would return (to Spain). My land attracts me so much, the way we live, the way we meet, our culture, that's what makes me always keep it in my head. But I'm happy here, happy with the way I'm treated, and I really enjoy my work. I think that That will come one day, and I won't be out for the rest of my life.

Arteta had been linked with a move to Barcelona earlier in the season, and a return to his former club at some stage cannot be ruled out. Likewise, the opportunity to coach boyhood club Real Sociedad might also be too good an opportunity to turn down.
