Horner left astonished by bizarre Newey revelation

Former Formula 1 team boss Eddie Jordan has revealed Christian Horner's reaction when he learned of his involvement in Adrian Newey's departure from the team.

Red Bull confirmed earlier this month that Newey, widely regarded as one of Formula 1's greatest ever car designers, will exit the company in early 2025, bringing an end to his highly successful tenure with the team.

It was revealed that Jordan, who ran his own Formula 1 team for 15 years, helped Newey with his exit negotiations from Red Bull.

talking on Success formula Podcast, Jordan recounted his first interaction with Red Bull boss Horner after learning of his role in the departure.

“Christian, do you know what he was calling me? Do you know what he called me when he found this? First of all, his jaw was somewhere near the end of his pants,” Jordan said.

“You know, he had a pretty big jaw in the first place, but he called me up and said, 'Oh, EJ, you're a fucking silent killer.'

“So I don't know what the silent killer is. Maybe you can tell us, DC.” [David Coulthard]What is this?”

“Well, you'd rather be a silent killer than have someone hear you coming,” responded Coulthard, Jordan's podcast co-host and 13-time grand prize winner.

“No one ever saw that coming. No one knew you were managing Adrien.

Jordan praises Newey

Jordan and Newey are known to be friends, with the Irishman highlighting the 65-year-old's skill and prowess in Formula 1 engineering.

“I tell him: ‘Adrian, when you have a pencil in your hand and you look at the drawing board, there is no one equal to you.’”

“Take out your pencil and you'll be just like us.

“I'm serious, he's a normal guy.

“But inside that brain something really intelligent is coming out.

“He always gets it right. He's a genius when it comes to evaluating how to take advantage of the rules, how to get the best out of them, and how to make sure the team and the car get the most out of them in every way.
