Golden Eaglets: Nigeria’s U17s given all-clear to defend WAFU title after passing age test


The Nigerian Golden Eaglets have passed their CAF MRI tests without problems and are now preparing to begin their title defense in Ghana.

Nigeria's 20-man Golden Eaglets squad has declared itself eligible to compete in the WAFU B U17 Championship which kicks off in Accra, Ghana on Wednesday.

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) confirmed on Tuesday that all the players presented by Nigeria have definitely passed medical examinations for each of their participation. Oganla Media.

This is a strong endorsement of the extensive testing carried out by coaches led by World Cup winner Garba Manu before the team's departure and ensures the defending champions have the full complement of available elements.

The Eagles will begin the defense of their title by facing Burkina Faso on Thursday at the university stadium, at exactly four o’clock in the afternoon, Nigerian time.

They will then face Niger Republic on Sunday (7pm Nigeria time) and Togo next Wednesday (5pm Nigeria time) as they seek to qualify from the group stage.

The clearing of the 20-man squad is a big boost for Nigeria as they target to retain the WAFU U17 title they won in Ghana last year.

The credibility of the screening process has been verified, paving the way for the Eagles to face the best players in the region at full strength.

With their full arsenal at their disposal, Nigeria will be very motivated to move forward and successfully defend their WAFU title in Accra over the coming days.
