Get your watch made from parts of Senna’s iconic Lotus F1 car

Even the Abu Dhabi Auto Racing League

When it comes to Formula 1's mix of iconic drivers and cars, few are as memorable as Ayrton Senna and the special John Player livery that adorned his Lotus F1 cars.

How great would it be, then, to have a daily reminder of Senna's prowess and those famous colors she wears on your wrist?

Independent watch brand REC Watches offers exactly this with its new 98T/4.

Developed with care and complexity over the course of almost two years, each piece is built with original parts from Senna's 1986 Lotus 98T in collaboration with Classic Team Lotus.

Aluminum tubes from chassis No. 4 – privately owned and still raced to this day – have been reshaped to form the watch's outer separation rings and tachometers, while its design takes a number of cues from the car as well.

In addition to the incredibly elegant case construction, black and gold tones adorn the display, while the No. 12 car logo is skeletonized on the rotor – and the decoration of the movement's back plate references the Renault EF15B, the engine that powered the 98T.

The 98T/4 collection is limited to 989 watches, each individually numbered.

Since 2014, independent Danish watchmaker REC Watches has been specializing in making timepieces with an undeniable connection to famous legends.

The 98T/4 is the latest in a series of projects that also includes watches made from Steve McQueen's TR6 motorcycle, Carroll Shelby's Mustang concept car, or John DeLorean's personal DMC-12.

The 98T/4 retails for £3,195.00 and is available exclusively through the REC Watches website with a 20% pre-order discount.
