Frenkie de Jong taken off injured in El Clásico


Frenkie de Jong left the field due to what appears to be a serious ankle injury Near the end of the first half of the Clásico match between Real Madrid and Barcelona at the Bernabeu.

De Jong is injured Loose ball challenge with Real Madrid player Valverde. Their feet collided in the air, sending De Jong's foot flying backwards from colliding with his instep, twisting the foot grotesquely and apparently damaging the ankle.

The Dutch player received treatment on the field and was eventually able to stand on his feet, but he was unable to leave the field and was placed on a stretcher and taken off the field. He was clearly astonished and tearful. The injury comes to the same ankle that he injured earlier this season.

De Jong received a standing ovation from the Bernabéu fans as he left the stadium.

Medical report on De Jong's injury
