Fortnite: Chicago NASCAR street track added to Rocket Racing

A NASCAR racetrack in downtown Chicago is now available to drive in the hugely popular Fortnite franchise's Rocket Racing title, with more tracks expected to be in the game soon.

The Chicago street circuit was first envisioned on iRacing and introduced to the 2023 NASCAR Cup Series calendar where Supercars driver Shane van Gisbergen famously won on his debut in a mixed conditions race also contested by former Formula 1 driver Jenson Button.

The second Chicago race will take place this week on July 7, with the Rocket Racing Fortnite map launching accordingly. The track was designed and built by Karta metaverse studio.

“NASCAR has always been about pushing boundaries and connecting with fans in exciting ways,” said Nick Rind, NASCAR’s managing director of esports and gaming.

“Fortnite provides the perfect platform to engage with a global audience, combining the intensity of NASCAR racing with the immersive world of Fortnite.

“Carta, with its amazing creativity, attention to detail and innovative approach, was the perfect partner to help us realise this vision.

“We wanted to build something that would have longevity for both passionate NASCAR fans and the broader Fortnite community and we think we’ve succeeded in that.”

In Rocket Racing, which was released last December, up to 12 players compete in arcade-style races, where drivers can jump over obstacles and drive on ceilings and walls in an attempt to win.

Players can drive the Chicago track while mastering drifting and avoiding obstacles, and can play in multiplayer or solo time trials.

More NASCAR tracks — details of which have not been announced — will be released for Rocket Racing later in the season.
