F1 technical boss to depart role

Formula 1 technical director Pat Symonds is set to leave his position after taking over in 2017, according to reports. Motorsport.com.

Symonds played a role in creating the current regulations introduced in 2022 and was also involved in the 2026 technical regulations, when new power unit regulations will be introduced.

However, Simmonds has decided it is time for a break, as the rules for the 2026 structure will be announced next month.

No official announcement has been made by Formula 1, although Symonds is believed to have decided to leave the organization some time ago.
