Dream move for Athletic Club playmaker fading

Athletic Bilbao bid farewell to two Los Leon legends at the end of the season, Raul Garcia and Iker Muniain. The former has retired, but Muniain, who is only 31 years old, is still searching for a new club.

Muniain tends to look outside Europe and is a fan of Argentine giants River Plate, and there have been links between the two. Muniain's dream of moving to Monumental seems difficult to come true. Diario AS note that River have already secured five of their six non-Argentine positions, and their top priority this summer appears to be a striker. River is already in negotiations with Internacional's Ener Valencia, and the Ecuadorian will complete the permitted number of foreign players in River's squad.

It is not yet clear where Muniain will head after two decades at the club, but Major League Soccer has been mentioned several times, albeit simply because it appears to be the most popular destination for aging Spanish stars.
