‘Dennis again’: Wehrlein offers view on latest heated fight

Pascal Wehrlein and Jake Dennis offered their take on what was a heated exchange between the pair during the second race of the Berlin E-Prix doubleheader, with contact coming into contact several times.

Since becoming title contenders last season, the two Porsche-powered drivers have had strong words to say about each other on multiple occasions. Berlin was their last meeting.

Wehrlein was pressed into the wall on the opening lap before making further contact with Dennis in the closing stages of the race. Incidents with Dennis and Andretti teammate Norman Nato in the opening laps hampered the German's steering, but his pace remained strong.

The factory Porsche driver eventually finished fourth which he considered the best he could have hoped for after the crashes.

“Yes, there was a lot of damage to my car,” Verlein said. Racing News 365. “On the first lap, Dennis squished me into the wall at Turn 2, then completely by NATO at Turn 6.

“My car was badly damaged. My steering was no longer straight, but I was able to maintain a good speed. Then two more times, Dennis again.

“I mean, it was a fun race to be honest, like a lot of tough battles. I did everything I could to get maximum points today. I think more than fourth place and in those conditions wasn't really possible.”

When asked what he thought of the numerous incidents with Dennis, Fehrlein replied: “Nothing. That's the way it is.”

Denise's behavior

While Wehrlein remained tight-lipped about the events with Dennis, the world champion was more open.

Seconds after the events during the closing stages of the race, Dennis said on the radio that Wehrlein's driving was “crazy”.

However, after being given the opportunity to calm down, Dennis admitted that the fight was not an issue, as his radio comments simply came “in the heat of the moment”.

“No, it was fine,” Dennis said. Racing News 365. “Obviously, in the heat of the moment, you're always asking for a little more than the maximum.

“But looking back, we came home fourth and fifth, staying in the points. Obviously Porsche, three cars in the top five, I think it was a very good day for us overall.”
