David Johnson in Hospital After Isle of Man TT Superbike Crash

Australian rider David Johnson is recovering in hospital after a crash in Superbike Race 1 at the 2024 Isle of Man TT.

Johnson, who races for the Platinum Club Racing Kawasaki team – run by Lee Hardy Racing – in the Superbike and Superstock classes at this year's Isle of Man TT, crashed at K Tree corner during the Superbike TT on Sunday.

He was taken to Nobles Hospital after the accident for tests including a CT scan.

A social media post from Lee Hardy Racing confirmed that “all is well” despite the “massive incident”.

The post reads: “David Johnson had a crash in the Isle of Man TT Superbike race today at K Trees and as far as accidents go this was massive.

“I can report that David has been airlifted to Nobles Hospital for tests and reports indicate he is fine and is just waiting for the CT scan results to come back.”

Peter Hickman won the Superbike TT after a four-way battle between himself, Dean Harrison, Davey Todd and Michael Dunlop.

Dunlop led by more than 20 seconds before the second stop, by which time he had dragged Harrison into third between Todd and Hickman. Todd's pit stop problems and Dunlop's visor problem lifted Harrison into the lead with two laps remaining, but without Dunlop pulling he didn't have the pace to keep Hickman or Todd behind, and Hickman took his 14th TT win.
