Carlo Ancelotti plans for Jude Bellingham return to deeper role next season

Real Madrid star Jude Bellingham may be the top scorer in La Liga this season, but Carlo Ancelotti intends to keep him out of the goal next season.

Ancelotti has used Bellingham in multiple roles this season, coming out on the left side and playing behind the strikers, but always with the freedom to move as he pleases in the final third. However, with the arrival of Kylian Mbappe in the summer, Ancelotti is already making plans for next season, and Marca says his intention is to move Bellingham back into a more traditional central midfield role. The Italian believes he is fully capable of taking on the extra defensive responsibility, and feels he can be a complete footballer.

Few would doubt Bellingham's ability to adapt to any role beyond this season. As has happened with Fede Valverde this season, it will likely be accompanied by a decrease in his influence in the final third. Generally, Real Madrid operate with two midfielders behind the ball, and depending on how Ancelotti lines up, this could be the player more often than not next season.
