Boniface and CAF show respect to Osimhen after hunting Cameroonian Lions down at AFCON 2023

Victor Osimhen was pipped to the man of the match by Ademola Lookman but got his flowers from Victor Boniface and CAF.

Napoli striker Victor Osimhen has received widespread plaudits following his dominant display in Nigeria’s AFCON 2023 round of 16 triumph over Cameroon

Pulse Sports Nigeria reports that CAF and compatriot Victor Boniface are amongst those singing the praises of the Super Eagles star on Saturday night.

Osimhen’s Super Show for Nigeria

The 25-year-old was one of the standout performers for the Eagles as Nigeria sealed a date with Angola in the last eight of the AFCON 2023.

Osimhen assisted the opener by Ademola Lookman, who added a second goal in added time, as Jose Peseiro’s men eliminated their special rivals and neighbours the Indomitable Lions.

Cameroon struggled to contain the Napoli icon, who was substituted in the 90th minute as the most fouled player in the match.

Boniface and CAF react

CAF’s official account on X.com, formerly Twitter, hailed the Napoli icon following a message from Osimhen’s injured Super Eagles teammate, Boniface.

“Respect brother,” Bayer Leverkusen star, Boniface posted on his official account moments after the explosive encounter.

Boniface’s post was quickly quoted by CAF’s account adding; “Yes o. We follow believe him government pieces!”

The adulation was well-deserved after Osimhen tore Cameroon apart with his hold-up play, relentless running and all-round display.

At just 25, the Super Eagles main man underlined his credentials as Africa’s hottest striking talent and best player.

More magical nights like this from the former Lille man, who now has one goal and assist, could power Nigeria to AFCON glory.
