Barcelona star denies claims he gave information to club bosses on Hansi Flick

Hansi Flick is preparing to take over as Barcelona's next coach, succeeding Xavi Hernandez, whose departure will become official after Sunday's match against Sevilla at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan Stadium. The 59-year-old will be reunited with Ilkay Gundogan, who he coached in Germany, and Robert Lewandowski, at Bayern Munich.

Earlier this week, it was reported that Barcelona asked Gundogan about Flick, although the manager has now relayed information from the German midfielder that this was not the case. The report stated that Gundogan did not convey any opinion about Flick to anyone in Barcelona, and that if anyone had asked him to do so, he would not have done so out of respect for Xavi.

Gundogan was one of the first Barcelona players to publicly praise Xavi after his departure was announced on Friday. He clearly has great respect for his soon-to-be former manager, although there will certainly be a degree of excitement to work with a familiar face in Flick.
