Barcelona stalwart could have already played final match amid possible summer departure

Barcelona's summer transfer window is expected to be a busy one, with a large number of players needing to leave to help improve the club's faltering financial situation. Ronald Araujo is one of the people who could be sold, amid strong links with Bayern Munich and English Premier League clubs.

If Araujo leaves in the summer, it means he could have already played his final minutes as a Barcelona player, which came last Sunday in a 3-0 win over Rayo Vallecano. According to Sport, the Uruguayan centre-back's participation in the trip to Seville this weekend is doubtful, as he is still suffering from discomfort in his knee.

Araujo has an agreement with coach Xavi Hernandez which means any risk of worsening the problem will be completely avoided. With the match against Sevilla not being a suitable one, it would be surprising if he was risked, especially with the Copa America looming.

It may have been a difficult season for Araujo, but it would still be a huge blow if he was sold by Barcelona this summer. He is still viewed as one of the best midfielders in the world, although selling him would solve the club's financial problems to some extent.
