Barcelona Sporting Director Deco spends two hours with President after public complaints about leaks

Barcelona sporting director Deco did not deny that they were discussing the future of striker Vitor Roque, but he made a public complaint about the constant leaks coming out of the club.

It has been an issue at various points on Barcelona's field of late, and last season a narrative emerged that Xavi Hernandez was trying to find out the source of leaks in the dressing room.

Speaking to Movistar+, as reported by Sport, Deco was asked about Roque, and he sidestepped the question.

“Naturally, when there is no football, there is news. It is very difficult without football in ten days. Barcelona is causing a lot of controversy.”

Barcelona's last match against Girona once again left many doubts about the project, which will continue with Xavi Hernandez, after his transformation. Since then, the Blaugrana have struggled to present a positive message.

“What we will do… The discussion must be internal, we cannot discuss what we will do. The future is thought about at home, not in the press or newspapers. There are few people who take responsibility in football. There are me, the president, Joan Laporta, the coach… If it doesn't come from those three, I don't know where things come from.”

After the match in Montjuïc, Deco, Laporta, loan manager Bojan Krkic and manager Joan Soler were all seen leaving at around the same time, two hours after the match had finished. Alejandro Echevarria, who does not have a position at the club, but continues to participate in decisions, appears to also be present during several meetings, and was present when Barcelona met with Xavi to decide on his continuity. The political nature of Barcelona means that shaping the narrative often involves leaks to the press.
