Pico Bagnaia took a dominant MotoGP victory over title rival Jorge Martin at the Dutch TT, while Marc Marquez crashed out early on.

Factory Ducati rider Bagnaia continued his strong form over the weekend, leading every session before the start of the race, before taking his second win in a row after doing the same last time out at Mugello.

MotoGP championship leader Martin finished second on his Pramac Ducati, 2.3 seconds behind Bagnaia, to claim his sixth podium finish in eight sprint races, with Aprilia's Maverick Vinales third.

Gresini Ducati rider Marc Marquez, who is third in the standings, crashed early on after hitting the kerb at Turn 2, having also crashed in the previous qualifying session.

Bagnaia led off the line, with one moment for Martin to extend his lead on the second lap, while Alex Marquez took third from Viñales.

After Marc Marquez crashed out of the race, Vinales regained the position from his teammate Gresini and his brother, and attacked Martin, who was closing in on the leader.

Bagnaia led by 0.6 seconds on the fourth lap, with Martin a further 0.8 seconds behind his compatriot Viñales, while both Honda rider Luca Marini and Aprilia test rider Lorenzo Savadori ended their races – the first due to an engine problem and the second after a crash in the final sector.

The reigning world champion continued to build on Martin and was 0.3 seconds faster on lap seven, then 1.1 seconds on the following run as the gap between second and third widened to one second. By lap 11, Bagnaia had widened the gap between Martin and 1.4 seconds, then another 1.7 seconds to Vinales in third, 2.8 seconds ahead of Ducati's Enea Bastianini, as the gap between the top four extended over the final laps.

Bastianini made good progress, running 11th before making a rapid run to fifth on lap nine, overtaking Brad Binder at Turn 5 before snatching fourth from Alex Marquez shortly after at Turn 16.

Alex Márquez's last-lap moment saw Fabio Di Giannantonio take fifth, with Aleix Espargaro moving up to sixth before a violent crash at Turn 15 – his second of the weekend.

KTM's Brad Bender finished the race in sixth place, while a penalty taken by Alex Marquez on the penultimate lap, which he did not send, resulted in a three-second demotion, dropping him to eighth place behind Yamaha's Fabio Quartararo.

Franco Morbidelli took the final point for Pramac, before an unusually tough day for rookie Pedro Acosta on the Tech3 GasGas machine.

After two crashes on Saturday morning, Marco Bezzecchi crossed the finish line in 11th for the VR46 team, followed by Trackhouse Racing's Miguel Oliveira and KTM's Jack Miller.

Joan Mir was fastest Honda in 14th, ahead of Tech3 GasGas’ Augusto Fernandez and LCR’s Johann Zarco. Trackhouse’s Raul Fernandez was given a long lap penalty for track limit violations and finished 17th. LCR’s Takaaki Nakagami and Yamaha’s Alex Rins, who crashed out of 16th at Turn 5 on lap nine before rejoining, completed the final three places.
