Pico Bagnaia led his Ducati 2025 teammate Marc Marquez in the opening practice session for the Dutch MotoGP TT at the Assen circuit.

VR46 Ducati rider Fabio Di Giannantonio had led Bagnaia with a time of 1:32.401 at the end, but had his lap removed for breaching the narrow track limits at the final turn, so he dropped to seventh.

This left Bagnaia in pole position, 0.065 seconds behind Gresini's rider Marquez.

Bagnaia did not really improve his time on the soft tyres in the final runs, while Marquez's best effort came on the penultimate lap before turning on his final run. Marquez had earlier led the first part of the session.

Third and fourth went to the more surprising riders, Trackhouse Aprilia's Raul Fernandez and Yamaha's Fabio Quartararo, both of whom jumped up the order by running the soft tyres late.

Maverick Vinales and championship leader Jorge Martin stayed on the medium tyres until the end and finished fifth and tenth respectively, with Martin setting an early lap and leading the session for a long time.

ViƱales's Aprilia share, Aleix Espargaro, started with a mechanical problem while attempting his first lap but finished sixth.
