Jurgen Klopp, Mohamed Salah and Liverpool are guests to Manchester United in the Emirates FA Cup at Old Trafford.
Jurgen Klopp has delivered a massive boost ahead of Liverpool’s seismic FA Cup quarter-final clash against Manchester United by confirming Mohamed Salah is “definitely ready” to start at Old Trafford.
The Egyptian king was in sensational form in the Reds’ 6-1 Europa League demolition of Sparta Prague on Thursday, becoming Liverpool’s first-ever player to score 20+ goals in seven consecutive seasons.
Liverpool have reportedly identified a replacement for Jurgen Klopp but they must now fend off interest from Chelsea.
Mourinho has heaped praise on the “best” Egyptian player he has ever seen, and it is not Mo Salah, a player he coached while at Chelsea.
Salah ready for Man United
After bagging a fine goal and providing three assists in that 11-2 aggregate rout, Salah has been declared fit and firing for Sunday’s colossal cup tie.
Speaking at his pre-match press conference, Klopp provided an update on his squad’s condition, stating: “Mo Salah is definitely ready for the game against Man United,” per a post by transfer guru, Fabrizio Romano on Twitter.
However, the German did temper that positive news by revealing defensive lynchpin Ibrahima Konate is a major doubt after missing training on Friday.
“Ibou Konate didn’t train today, will be a tight race which we will probably lose,” Klopp admitted.
There was better news on the midfield front, with new signing Cody Gakpo’s Dutch compatriot Ryan Gravenberch returning to full training after a knock.
“Gravenberch trained again today so should be ready,” Klopp confirmed.
It sets up a tantalizing team selection headache for the Liverpool boss at Old Trafford as he plots a path into the FA Cup semi-finals.
Despite their struggles in the Premier League, Klopp’s men will take confidence from a pulsating 7-0 mauling of their North West rivals back in December last year.
But United will be looking for another positive outing in the FA Cup after running out 3-2 winners when the sides last met in this competition at Old Trafford two years ago.
With the Salah factor and a near full-strength squad, Liverpool have every chance to net another huge victory in this blockbuster FA Cup clash.
