2024 Saudi Arabia GP: Defending champion Verstappen claims pole in Jeddah


Max Verstappen put up another remarkable performance in Friday’s qualifying ahead of the Saudi Arabia GP.

On Friday, March 8, the anticipation was high as Formula 1 enthusiasts eagerly awaited the qualifying session for the second race of the 2024 Formula 1 season, the Saudi Arabia Grand Prix in Jeddah.

As the cars raced around the track, it was Red Bull’s Max Verstappen who emerged victorious, clinching pole position in a thrilling display of skill and speed.

The 25-year-old Dutch driver and defending world champion showcased his prowess by completing the challenging circuit with a blistering time of 1 minute and 27.472 seconds.

Verstappen’s flawless performance not only secured him the pole position but also sent a clear message to his competitors that he meant business as usual in the upcoming race.

Red Bull have once more began the new season in blistering fashion as Verstappen emerged Victorious at the opening race of the season in the Bahrain GP last weekend.

Following closely behind Verstappen in Friday’s Saudi GP qualifying was Charles Leclerc of the Ferrari team, who put up a commendable effort but fell short by 0.319 seconds.

Meanwhile, Verstappen’s Red Bull teammate Sergio Perez, rounded off the top three, trailing by a mere 0.335 seconds.

Mercedes driver and seven-time world champion Lewis Hamliton finished 8th in the qualifying, behind his teammate George Russell, in what looks to be another shaky start to the season for W15 drivers.
